Sister Margaret and I did our second workshop on methods of teaching in Makpundu at the refugee camp for people from Democratic Republic of the Congo. Father Mario sent some on his kindergarten teachers as well as his secondary school teachers for this one. We did some small group work for part of it and two of the groups attempted to report back in English and did well. We do have one of the primary school teachers who translates for us. He is very good. One picture show Sister Celine who is from Canada and is a French speaker. She is the one who works at the camp and asked us to come. The teachers work very hard and are enthusiastic despite the fact that they give up two hours of their Saturday to come.
It’s cold at night here. Colder than last year. It’s been 12 to 16 degrees Celsius in the mornings. That’s high 50s, low 60s which is quite cold for here.
