The students wanted to cook a sheep for themselves for Christmas. They had found a man who was to deliver the sheep and some one of them knew about slaughtering, but the 24th the man said it was too insecure to bring it so they bought a combination of goat and beef. They said their lunch was delicious. We gave them sweets--cookies and lollies. I had made sugar cookies in the shape of stars and we found other baked cookies in the town. Julia and I delivered bags of sweets and baked cookies to the Sisters in town and to some of the priest communities and the Brothers on the 24th.
Sadly our cook, Gloria, lost her two year old son on Christmas afternoon. They live right behind us. He was hit by a car driven by someone who was drinking. The whole Solidarity family has rallied around her. Even our contractor is involved, he has donated tiles for the grave.
The students asked if we had any religious movies. Ailish has one--the life of Jesus. It was very well done. We watched it for two nights. The pictures are of the group in the tv room. They really liked the movie.
All best wishes for a blessed New Year. Please continue to pray for peace and wisdom that will inspire the leaders to use self-control and common sense and regain or find a moral compass.
