S. Julie Marsh, PBVM,and her little minpin Muncie rode down with me. It was good to have the company. We spent the night in Little Rock and had a lovely drive through Arkansas on Wednesday.
We arrived about 5:00 on Wednesday. We stopped first at the place where Julie will be staying and dropped her and Muncie off. Then I found my way back to House of Charity. Julie and Mary Lou and two of the daughters came for supper with us at the HOC. It was a great welcome.
We have kept busy with all kinds of things - getting necessary pieces of furniture, etc. Since we are all here we had a preliminary house meeting on Friday - just went over what needs to be done and what is already on the HOC calendar. We aren't too busy with groups for a little while, but there is plenty to be done.
Since it is a holiday weekend, we have played a bit. On Saturday we went to the Greek Festival and the local Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The afternoon was beautiful and we toured the church and the grounds, had some Greek food and listened to the Greek music. It was quite relaxing.
Sunday was church and we went to Corpus Christi/Epiphany for Mass. It was a lively celebration. We headed out to the beach in the middle of the afternoon. It is about an hour's journey to Mississippi and the beaches on the Gulf which I saw for the first time. The water was warm and shallow since the tide was out. It was great just to sit in the sun and enjoy the quiet of the day. We continued down the coast for a bit before we turned back to NOLA.
I have a lovely room which finally today, Sunday, I have put some order into. I Unpacked all my boxes and put things away while Monica and Kelly worked on a garden in the back yard. We want to make a nice space for our statue of Mary. The soil here is AWFUL - clay and sand. So they dug up a big patch and then got some help on what to do to make the ground better for growing flowers. We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and had our picnic in the house. Claire and Monica headed for a concert and fireworks. So here I am, catching up on my "correspondence."
Thank you for all of your love and support and prayers. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful community and family and I thank God every day for all of you. Keep up the prayers, we need them.
